September 17, 2021The competition of the 69th edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival got underway tonight with the Chinese "One second", directed by Zhang Yimou. The film is set during the Cultural Revolution and stars Zhang Yi and Fan Wei.



Sixteen feature films are competing for the golden shell, which will be awarded by the international jury formed by the Georgian director Déa Kulumbegashvili (president), with the Spanish actress Susi Sánchez, the directors Maite Alberdi (Chile) and Audrey Diwan (France, recent winner of the Golden Lion) and US producer Ted Hope. The silver shell for directing, the leading actor, the supporting interpreter and the award for screenplay and photography complete the palmarès. 



Among the other competitive sections, "New Directors", dedicated to first or second films, sees 13 films competing, while in "Horizontes Latinos", 10 Latin American productions run.



The festival will end on Saturday 25 September.
