At 8 o'clock on Saturday morning, the first start of this year's Ironman takes place in Jönköping.

It will be the first Ironman competition to be decided in Sweden after the pandemic.

The organizers are relieved and happy that the competition can start again.

- It feels unreal that it will actually get rid of now after a long break due to the pandemic, we have longed for, says Magnus Nyberg, Race Director Ironman Jönköping.

Halved number of participants

This year, the number of participants has halved due to the pandemic.

The children's race Ironkids and the start and end events that are usually arranged in the culture house Spira are also canceled this year.

- We have 1,200 registered participants this year, compared with 2,500 participants in normal cases.

It still feels like a good number considering the current situation, says Magnus Nyberg.
