French Bayern Munich midfielder Kingsley Coman has undergone a "small operation" of the heart and will be away from the field "a week and a half or two weeks", his coach Julian Nagelsmann announced on Friday.

"We put him on an EKG and found something that could be treated quickly, which was done yesterday," said the coach.

According to Nagelsmann, the 25-year-old French international will be able to resume cardio sessions on Tuesday and team training in two weeks at the latest.

"It's a small operation. The cardiac arrhythmia has been eliminated and Kingsley is back to 100% of his form," he said.

The French, returned injured from qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, had played only a few minutes at the end of the Champions League match against FC Barcelona on Tuesday.

In the Bundesliga, he should miss the matches against Bochum and Fürth, and is uncertain for the next C1 meeting of the Bavarians, on September 29 against Dynamo Kiev.
