During the meeting, he noted that the actions of Apple and Google during the Russian elections are viewed "as illegal and directly related to interference in the purely internal affairs of Russia."

Evidence of this was officially passed on to US Ambassador John Sullivan, Klimov recalled.

“In addition, there are official submissions from the Russian prosecutor’s office dated September 9, 2021 to Apple CEO Mr. Cook and Google CEO Mr. Pichai,” the senator said.

These submissions include demands to eliminate violations of Russian law that facilitate election interference, he added.

His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Earlier, representatives of Google and Apple were invited to a meeting of the Federation Council Commission on Sovereignty on September 16 in connection with interference in the elections in Russia.

As noted in the Russian Foreign Ministry, US interference in the country's affairs and electoral processes has been documented.

The US ambassador, who was summoned to the ministry, was told that interference was inadmissible.
