The new book "Peril", which means danger in Swedish and is written by journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, has made headlines even though it has not yet been published.

The US expert Andreas Utterström believes that it is above all new information about nuclear weapons management that has emerged in the book.

At the heart of the story is US Secretary of Defense Mark Milley.

Part of the book describes a conversation between him and the Democratic leader in Congress, Nancy Pelosi, in January in which they both expressed concern that Trump could do something stupid.

- Milley then said that he promised to follow the routines, implicitly, we will make sure that Trump does not do something stupid, says Andreas Utterström.

Heard from China

Another incident described in the book is that Milley is said to have gathered high-ranking military personnel to go through what would happen if the United States were to use nuclear weapons.

A third detail that has attracted attention is how the Chief of Defense under the radar heard from his counterpart in China.

- He said something like: I understand that it seems that we have no control here, but it is "business as usual" and we will not let anything happen.

He also said that if Trump were to attack China, I will warn you beforehand, says Utterström.

Trump has reacted to the new book with anger and has denied that he had plans to bomb China.

He has also said that if the information about Milley's talks with the Chinese general is correct, it is treason.

- Milley made a statement where he did not say whether what is in the book is true or not, but he has not denied, says Utterström.

The current US President Joe Biden has stated that he still has confidence in Mark Milley.
