It is reported that 494 parliamentarians supported the document, 103 opposed it, and 72 abstained.

It deals with the recommendation "to revise the EU policy towards Russia" and "to develop a comprehensive strategy" towards Moscow.

In particular, the author of the initiative believes that Brussels should "counter the threat to security", "fight against Russian interference in the affairs of the EU and the countries of the Eastern Partnership."

He also calls for a "selective dialogue" with the Kremlin and support for a "democratic society."

The decisions of the EP are advisory in nature.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the once developed architecture of relations with Europe has now been destroyed by Brussels, which increasingly began to resort to unilateral sanctions bypassing the decisions of the UN Security Council.
