Apart from the last two years, it was not until 2003 that the costs for income support have decreased in Uppsala municipality.

In 2020, costs decreased by 18 million and so far this year, it has decreased by 16 million.

The reduction is believed to be due to more people entering the labor market and thus being able to support themselves.

In 2020, the municipality helped 417 people into the labor market and so far this year, 403 people have been helped.

Record number of long-term unemployed

Despite Uppsala Municipality's investments in the long-term unemployed, there are a record number of long-term unemployed in the county.

The long-term unemployed are those who have been without a job for twelve months or more.

There are a total of 6,000 long-term unemployed in Uppsala County.
