A staggering discovery.

Last Saturday, during a stroll on a beach in Pas-de-Calais, walkers discovered a loaf of cocaine.

Since then, others have been found in the same area according to our colleagues from

La Voix du Nord

.

In total, a dozen loaves of cocaine were recovered in less than a week, washed up on the beaches between Cap Gris-Nez and Ambleuteuse.

A quantity far from negligible since it represents nearly 13 kg of drugs for an amount for resale on the illicit market estimated at more than half a million euros.

Tourists of a special kind

And the authorities are on the alert, nothing to confirm that other packages of narcotics are not yet buried somewhere in the sand.

The police have also organized searches and surveillance of the premises.

The news quickly spread, to the dismay of the authorities who would have been happy to see the small hands of the drug trafficking land on the coast.

Investigations have also been launched to try to find the origin of this merchandise.

In all likelihood, this is a load lost by traffickers after their boat sank or thrown out for fear of a check.
