China Overseas Chinese Network, September 16th. According to the "Cambodia Daily" report, with the approval of the Cambodian Phnom Penh Municipal Government to resume public and private junior and senior high schools on September 15 local time, major Chinese schools in Phnom Penh have begun to welcome students to return. During the school and resumption preparation stage, a reporter from the “Khmer Chinese Daily” visited 5 Chinese schools in Phnom Penh.

Guangzhao School: Epidemic prevention measures are in place and take the lead in opening classes

Fu Meijing, principal of Guangzhao School, pointed out to reporters that the Chinese junior high school, Khmer middle school and high school classes were the first to resume classes on the 15th, and the Guangzhao students have returned to the long-awaited campus one after another.

Fu Meijing introduced that the school has made adequate preparations for the prevention and control of the epidemic, including keeping a safe distance from the desks.

Wash hands and disinfect students during the gaps before and after class and between class activities, and vigorously promote epidemic prevention measures. All school personnel wear masks and maintain social distancing. Students must wait in their seats for parents to pick them up after school.

She also said that parents of students are more at ease after seeing the school's epidemic prevention measures, and believe that the number of students returning to school next week will continue to increase.

According to Lin Huiling, a teacher of Guangzhao School, although online teaching is very convenient, it is difficult to understand the students' class status, and virtual classrooms cannot provide practical guidance to students.

In school classrooms, teachers can observe the conditions of students in time, interact with students, practice spoken English and sentences, etc., while online classrooms cannot be implemented smoothly.

Duanhua School: Resumption of classes in the near future, online and offline synchronization

Duanhua School is currently preparing the school to resume classes.

According to Yang Jinyi, the principal of the Tuanhua branch, the resumption of classes must first apply to the Cambodian Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, because many documents must be completed and an epidemic prevention committee will be formed in accordance with their instructions. In the event of an incident, the school also prepared a medical room for this.

Yang Jinyi said that it is currently planned to carry out a comprehensive elimination of the campus on September 18, but it has not yet been finalized. This first needs to observe the nucleic acid test results of all the school's faculty and staff. If it goes well, the disinfection activities and resumption of classes will also proceed as scheduled.

He said that due to the large number of students, returning to school and resuming classes must be divided into two batches, that is, each student goes to school three days a week.

The middle school department is better, because it is synchronized online and offline, so teachers don’t have to repeat lectures.

Chongzheng School: Solve the problem as soon as possible and resume classes

Chongzheng School originally planned to start classes on the 15th, but was forced to postpone it due to some application procedures.

Gao Wensheng, director of Chongzheng School, said that the school's application for resumption of classes is blocked, so students are not allowed to return to school for the time being, and the school still focuses on online classes.

He said that the school will solve the above problems as soon as possible so that students can come to school.

Liqun School: plans to resume classes on the 20th

The principal of Liqun School, Xie Zhiyong, said that the Phnom Penh City Government has approved the opening of the school’s secondary school courses and it is estimated that classes will resume on the 20th.

He said that the school will observe other Chinese schools resuming classes for a period of time, and the parents of the students have not been notified yet.

Even if classes are resumed, students can only be allowed to return to school in batches to strictly implement preventive measures.

Minsheng School: Watch the changes

Lin Lidan, the principal of Minsheng School, remains cautious about resuming classes and has not yet applied for classes.

She said that most of the parents of students have started to open their doors to do business, and they have more contact with outsiders. Therefore, the school cannot fully guarantee that their children will not be infected. If a student diagnosed with COVID-19 is found in the school, the school will be forcibly closed. This school does not consider resuming classes for the time being.

She said that the school will continue to focus on online classes. The school has consulted students’ family members and believes that the current online classes are very good, and there is no need for students to return to school for the time being.

Even if the school resumes, some parents do not want their children to return to school.

On the other hand, students returning to school for classes can only arrive in batches, which in turn increases the teaching burden of teachers.
