Libya: fighting involving Chadian fact-based rebels reported in the south of the country

Fighting which would have taken place on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, according to a statement from the Fact, the Front for Alternation and Concord in Chad, a rebel group behind the death of Idriss Déby Itno in April.

Airstrikes carried out by Khalifa Haftar's forces hit one of the Chadian rebel group's bases in this desert area.

A first bombardment would have started on Tuesday around 10 a.m. followed by a second in the evening, near Tarbou in southern Libya.

The Fact

has established one of its bases there.

"

 Precise drone fire shelled the area, 

" said spokesman for the rebel group, Kingabé Ogouzeïmi De Tapol.

He adds that these shots were aimed at Mahamat Mahdi Ali.

The head of the Fact, who leads the counter-offensive on the spot, confirms the death of seven Chadian rebels, including five executives.

He mentions dozens of deaths on the Libyan side.

These strikes were claimed by Khalifa Haftar's forces.

Forces backed by Sudanese toroboros and Chadian soldiers, according to Fact.

Patrols to secure the border

Charges rejected by Ndjamena.

The Minister of Defense, Daoud Yaya Brahim affirms that "

 no Chadian soldier intervened on Libyan soil

 ".

He specifies that the troops are limited to patrols to secure the border.

The Fact also implicates France and also claims to have identified five French soldiers, assigned to the mortar fire.
