After a successful season so far back in the Superettan, IFK Värnamo is now one of the top teams in the series.

With eleven rounds left to play, they are now fighting for the Allsvenskan places.

But Finnvedsvallen today does not meet the requirements for an all-Swedish arena and now the discussion is going on how it should be solved for the future.

- We are investigating the possibilities for a rebuilding of Finnvedsvallen, but also the possibilities for building a new arena, says Gottlieb Granberg (M), vice chairman of the municipal board Värnamo.

Too few seats

Finnvedsvallen today has a capacity for just over 1000 seats, but in the Allsvenskan at least 3000 seats are required at the arena.

Other aspects such as security, press rooms and VIP rooms must also be improved during a renovation of the arena.

It is possible to get an exemption for those teams with a smaller arena for a period, as long as a clear plan for rebuilding is included in future calculations.

Hope for dispensation

- That there is an opportunity for this exemption is absolutely crucial for us.

Regardless of whether we end up building a completely new arena or starting a rebuild of Finnvedsvallen, none of this happens overnight.

It will take time, says Fredrik Lingeskog, chairman of IFK Värnamo.
