September 16, 2021 As a sign of mourning for the femicides in Noventa Vicentina last week and in Montecchio Maggiore yesterday, the Municipality of Vicenza today displays the flags at half mast.



"Together with the firm condemnation of all forms of violence, this sign represents our commitment to concretely promote the culture of respect", declares the mayor and president of the Province Francesco Rucco who invited all the administrators of the territory to "team up with the community to corner the violent ".



The Municipality of Montecchio Maggiore declares the city mourning to solemnly express the pain and condolences of the entire community for the femicide that took place yesterday in the hamlet of Valdimolino. A young woman of just 21 years old, Alessandra Zorzin, mother of an almost 3-year-old girl, was killed.



"From today and until the day of the funeral, the flags displayed in the Town Hall will be lowered to half mast. - explains the mayor of Montecchio Maggiore, Gianfranco Trapula - With the official proclamation of city mourning, the municipal administration intends to give a signal of profound closeness not only to the families affected by this tragedy, but also to our entire community that is experiencing hours of terrible dismay. We also invite the shops and clubs in our area - continues the mayor - to lower the shutters of their activities during the last greetings to Alessandra Zorzin as a sign of mourning ". 



As soon as he was informed of what happened in Valdimolino, the mayor Gianfranco Trapula immediately rushed to the place to be close to his citizens: "The data on femicides in Italy continue to grow in a frightening way, to say the least, it is a problem that must be addressed. forcefully at the national level. Each of us should put a hand on our heart and ask ourselves what more can we do to prevent these gestures from continuing to multiply ".
