China News Service, Hefei, September 16 (Reporter Zhang Qiang) The reporter learned from the First Affiliated Hospital of Anyi Medical College on the 16th that the hospital’s expert team recently developed a special surgical plan for a patient whose palm was completely separated for more than 7 hours: The severed palm is "fostered" on the back of the foot. After "survival", the severed limb will be replanted at a suitable time.

On September 5, the 56-year-old Master Wang's left palm was completely broken by a cement mixer and he was urgently transferred to the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from a construction site in Jieshou City, Anhui Province.

Master Wang was seriously injured. The severed palm and tendon muscles were extracted from the forearm, and the entire upper limb was wrapped in a large amount of cement.

The patient's affected hand was severely damaged, and the disconnection time has exceeded 7 hours. It is urgent to rescue the injured limb.

The First Affiliated Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University urgently set up a treatment team, composed of chief physician Zhou Tao, chief resident of Jin Zhe, and resident physician of Guo Zihao, led by Director Zhou Hongxiang.

While preparing the patient for the operation, the treatment team repeatedly discussed the operation plan.

Because the patient’s left palm was fractured by a cement mixer, the injured hand was severely damaged and contaminated. After debridement of this type of injury, the broken end often showed staged defects. Direct in-situ replantation would inevitably result in extremely short palms, which would seriously affect the appearance and function of the hands. .

Zhou Hongxiang proposed that the current best treatment plan is to replant the severed palm in "foster care" at the first stage. After the patient's foster limbs are alive and the overall condition is well recovered, the palm will be replanted in the second stage and the defective palm will be reconstructed at the same time.

After nearly 6 hours of hard work, the surgical team anastomosed the arteries and veins from the palm of the hand to the arteries and veins on the back of Master Wang's left foot, and successfully carried out the "foster care" replantation.

At present, the "foster hand" is alive and well and has successfully adapted to the new "soil".

It is estimated that after three weeks, the replantation operation can be performed.

Zhou Hongxiang said that after Master Wang "loaded back" his left hand, he would have to carry out long-term rehabilitation training to gradually restore various functions of his arm.

Zhou Hongxiang reminded that after the finger or limb is accidentally cut off, don't panic. Be sure to stop bleeding and pressurize the stump first. At the same time, save the broken finger (limb) and send it to a doctor in time.

The storage of severed fingers (limbs) can be dry and refrigerated, that is, wrap them with sterile or clean accessories, put them in a plastic bag, and then put them in a covered container with ice cubes on the outside, but do not make the severed fingers ( Limbs) are in direct contact with ice to prevent frostbite.

Do not soak in any liquid, so as not to interfere with the tissue conditions such as blood vessels and nerves during replantation and affect the anastomosis effect.
