A Worn and Sad Old Man: A drawing by painter Vincent van Gogh, from a private Dutch collection, is on display for the first time since Thursday at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
"This is the first time that this drawing comes to light. It had never been exhibited anywhere," said AFP a specialist in the museum, Teio Meedendorp.
"It comes from a private Dutch collection where it has remained for a very long time and this is the very first time we can see it," he added.
This is a small pencil study made in 1882, which will be visible until January 2, after which the drawing will return to the family collection from which it was extracted.
A similar drawing by the artist was part of the museum's collection under the title "Used Peasant".
The museum also houses a famous lithograph inspired by the same theme, called "The Door of Eternity or Old Man in Sorrow".
It represents, like the drawing visible for the first time, an old vaulted peasant seated on a wooden chair, holding his head with both hands.
