The Dubai Health Authority reported that it had collected 9,225 units of blood as part of the "My Blood for My Country" campaign, from 10,423 people, who had donated from the government and private sectors, since the launch of the tenth cycle of the campaign on June 13.

The Director of the Department of Laboratories and Genetics at the authority, Dr. Hussein Al-Samt, told "Emirates Today" that the largest number of participants in the campaign are males, with 8,266 donors, compared to 959 females.

He pointed out that the statistics showed that 7,392 donors were in the age group between 25 and 45 years, 638 were donors in the age group of less than 25 years, and 1,195 people were in the age group of 45 years and over.

Al-Samt called on government and private agencies to take the initiative to participate in the campaign, explaining that “My Blood for My Country” continues to implement external campaigns targeting all institutions, in addition to distributing mobile donation buses in different regions, with the aim of collecting the largest possible number of blood units and providing a sufficient stock of blood. Blood of various types, and stressed that a single blood unit can save the lives of three people, whose health condition requires a blood transfusion, calling on community members, citizens and residents, to participate in the campaign, to provide the largest amount of blood, to save lives.

The "My Blood for My Country" campaign was launched in its first session in 2012, under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.

His Highness was the first to donate blood at the moment of launching the campaign, which contributed to its success and encouraged community members to participate in it, especially after His Highness emphasized the importance of the initiative, saying that “blood donation is the best gift that a citizen and resident can give, as an expression of love for the homeland, especially since there are patients And injured people need every drop of blood.”
