September 15, 2021 "In museums since the green pass has been introduced, attendance has grown by 155% over 2020".

The minister of culture Dario Franceschini said this and added: "People feel safer because they know that others also have the green pass".

Record numbers those recorded in recent months in Italian museums after the reopening. From May to July 2021, visitors to the various exhibition sites totaled about 4 million with a growth of over 155% compared to last year, also thanks to the recovery of international tourism. We are not yet at pre-Covid levels but in August, with the new rules that provide for entry only with the green pass, there was a notable leap forward especially in the so-called 'top 30' museums which have grown significantly compared to mid-August 2020. Among others, the Colosseum marked + 156%, the Uffizi + 46%, Pompeii + 20%, Paestum + 30%, Archaeological Museum of Naples + 79%, Royal Museums of Turin + 25%, Castel Sant'Angelo + 78%.

A data to be highlighted is that of the sites of the inland areas which have recorded a considerable increase in admissions because - as in last year - Italians preferred to visit the less known and less frequented areas, the so-called proximity tourism. And the territory is the target of the museum reform "it is expected that 20% of the proceeds of the large state museums, with a solidarity fund, go to manage the life of small museums, perhaps with large collections but that have no chance significant revenue from ticketing ". The Minister said and underlined "there will be a mechanism of solidarity because Italy is not a country that has a large national museum such as the Louvre or the National Gallery. It is the country of 4 thousand museums and places of culture,of these only 400 are state-owned "

But Minister Franceschini also spoke of cinema and theaters "I am trying to meet the world of cinema, theater and music to further expand the capacity for indoor and outdoor shows. We will discuss this in a collegiate forum, but I think that we can take a step in that direction ".
