Europe 1 traveled to Uchaud, in the Gard, where severe thunderstorms caused considerable flood damage.

The affected residents are trying to assess the damaged business, while Météo France forecasts a new violent phenomenon on the night of Wednesday and Thursday.

REPORTING

Caution is still required in Gard and Hérault, where the weather conditions could deteriorate again after the severe bad weather that has occurred since Tuesday.

Eight departments are on orange vigilance in the south-eastern quarter for the risk of thunderstorms and flooding.

In Uchaud, in the Gard, where the state of natural disaster will be declared next week, it's time to clean up for people affected by these very severe weather conditions.

"Our car is dead"

For more than 24 hours, the victims, well helped by family, friends, firefighters, have rolled up their sleeves to clean living spaces, garages or even gardens completely covered with mud or rubble.

"We have been here since this morning (Wednesday morning, editor's note) I have friends who have arrived", explains one victim.

"There was a lot of water and mud in the apartment. We were able to recover what we were able to recover. We have already been a lot of things. Our car is dead. It tore off the plates, the plates of tar. "

The program is quite heavy for disaster victims: cleaning up, sorting out permanently damaged items and contacting their insurance company.

"I had a voice server," says a resident.

"I'm waiting for them to contact me. It's complicated to reach them. I tried twice and left a message, they have to call me back."

Residents vigilant until Thursday

This hard work is not finished as the threat of new thunderstorms is already looming. Everyone here keeps an eye towards the sky, for fear of reliving a violent weather phenomenon. "They announce rain, again," says a disaster. "There, I'm going to be careful and I'll block my front door and the hallway door with planks to prevent too much water coming in." If there were only a few showers in the middle of the day, it will be necessary to remain vigilant until the end of the night from Wednesday to Thursday, according to Météo France forecasts.
