The 8-year-old child, hit by the tram on Monday evening, in Montpellier (Hérault), is still in serious condition.

He was struck by an oar while riding a scooter, reported firefighters, who were dispatched to the scene.

When help arrived, he was in cardio-respiratory arrest, but was able to be revived.

He was evacuated to Lapeyronie Hospital.

His mother and the driver of the tram, shocked by the accident, were also taken care of Monday evening by the emergency services.

To date, the responsibility of the tram driver is not engaged, said Wednesday Michaël Delafosse, the mayor and president of the metropolis of Montpellier.

No addiction was noted against him, nor speeding.

The driver "had all the right professional reflexes", assures the elected official.
