The Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Authority said that Zakaria Al-Zubaidi was beaten and abused during the process of capturing him again, on the other hand, the prisoners decided to cancel the open hunger strike, which was scheduled for next Friday, after the occupation met their demands.

And it confirmed in a statement that Al-Zubaidi sustained fractures in his jaw and rib cage during the process of his arrest, after he escaped with 5 prisoners through a tunnel dug inside the prison.

Israel managed to re-arrest 4 of the six prisoners, and is still pursuing the remaining two.

The statement came after the commission assigned the Israeli lawyer, Avigdor Feldman, to visit Al-Zubaidi in Al-Jalama prison.

The agency stated, quoting Feldman, that Al-Zubaidi was transferred to an Israeli hospital, and was treated with painkillers only.

"He suffers from bruises and scrapes all over his body as a result of beatings and abuse."

new details

On the details of Al-Zubaidi's escape from prison, his lawyer Feldman said that he did not participate in the tunnel excavation work, explaining that he joined the room of these prisoners one day before their release.

Al-Zubaidi explained to the lawyer that, during the four days in which they were liberated, they did not ask for help from anyone, and did not drink water throughout their liberation, and they ate the fruits they found in the orchards, such as patience, figs and others.

On September 6, the six prisoners escaped from the high-security Gilboa prison in northern Israel, through a tunnel dug from their cell to the outside of the prison.

4 of them were re-arrested last Friday and Saturday, while the Israeli security forces are searching for the activist Yaqoub Nafi'at, and Ayham Fouad Kammaji.

In a related context, the Palestinian Prisoners Club said today, Wednesday, that the prisoners in Israeli prisons decided to cancel the open hunger strike, which was scheduled for next Friday.

The club added in a statement that the decision to cancel the strike came after the Israeli authorities agreed to the prisoners' demands.

He pointed out that the most prominent of these demands was the abolition of the double collective punishment imposed by the occupation prisons administration on the prisoners, after 6 prisoners escaped from Gilboa prison.

The statement indicated that the decision to cancel the strike came with a unified decision of all prisoners.
