Inspired by the extreme poverty that has affected all aspects of his life in an integrated manner, Ibrahim Barbakh, a resident of the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, in his twenties, crossed the wall of silence, to publish his suffering and the tragedies of the poor in the Gaza Strip through his own platform on the social networking site “Tik Tok”.

The Gazan youth Ibrahim periodically produces video clips about the scourge of the living conditions that plague the lives of the poor in Gaza, and broadcasts them on social media platforms, through which he reveals the hidden poverty that haunts Gazans, and sends humanitarian messages to the responsible personalities in Gaza and the West Bank, to move towards an end to suffering.

Ibrahim Barbakh, 28 years old, father of one child, Hisham, a young man who is unemployed because of his need for a cornea transplant in his left eye, as this did not help him to find a suitable source of income, in addition to the lack of job opportunities due to the closure of the commercial sector crossings, The tightening of the Israeli siege policy imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2006.

Addressing the dead, "Emirates Today" met Ibrahim in the municipal park in the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, where he was wandering among the citizens to feel their pain, in order to broadcast it through his electronic platform, to reach all the pioneers of social networking sites in the world.

Ibrahim says: “In the Gaza Strip, we swallow the bitterness of poverty without the responsible authorities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank perceiving our suffering. The flood reached a point where the youth and the unemployed did not get any job opportunity in government institutions, including me.”

He adds: "I did not accept to be idly by, not to move a finger, as I watched the specter of poverty ravaging the lives of poor families, so I took upon me to take responsibility for them, and to spread their cruel suffering through social media platforms, for everyone around the world to watch, so I resorted to talking with the dead, After I was tired of addressing the neighborhoods to the responsible figures in Gaza and the West Bank, who did not do anything about the harsh issues of the poor.”

Barbakh had produced his first video in 2018, in which he addresses the dead inside a cemetery in Gaza. He took refuge in this place that is devoid of the noise of life, to broadcast to the dead what narrows his chest, and complains to them about his concerns, and sits among the gravestones, after rising Unprecedented poverty and unemployment rates among Gazans in 2018.

The young man, Hema, addressed the dead affected by the official government neglect and marginalization of families facing tidal waves of extreme poverty and rampant unemployment, addressing the people of the graves: “If your life that you live is better than the one we live, the people of the land, tell us?”

The young man in his twenties points out that after the publication of the video "Cemeteries of the Dead", he received many calls from several Arab countries, to express their solidarity with his suffering and the issues of the poor.

After the first video achieved a wide spread on social media platforms, the young man Barbakh made his way towards spreading all forms of suffering faced by the poor of Gaza.

"Abu Ghalaba"

Young Ibrahim, known among the pioneers of social media platforms and residents of the Gaza Strip as "Abu al-Ghalaba", gained a high following of viewers and followers, until he became famous on the "Tik Tok" platform.

"Abu al-Ghalaba" turns Gaza's public streets and his home hall into his own studio, for filming and talking through live broadcasts about the suffering of the poor, as he is present daily in these places to publish on social media what he sees with his own eyes.

Al-Ghazzi says: “I have produced hundreds of video works, all of which talk about the issues of the poor, the most important of which are the crises of water scarcity and power outages, the severe shortage in the availability of medicines, and the urgent need to travel and treat incurable diseases, which need urgent surgeries, and have nothing It is very expensive.”

The young Ibrahim also sheds light on his electronic platform on the unemployment crises and university graduates, as well as the issues of reducing the allowances for poor families known as “The Affairs” by the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development.

Barbakh goes on to say: "I constantly prepare a live broadcast with the citizens passing through the public streets, and those sitting on the side of the road, to spread their suffering exactly as it is on the ground, in the hope that I find someone who feels their severe crises, to pull them out of the quagmire of poverty to safety."

Abul Ghalaba’s charitable journey faces many challenges and difficulties, and about that, Barbakh says in his interview with “Emirates Today”: “I am facing many crises, like the rest of the besieged Gazans, which are constant power outages, in addition to not having the tools necessary to film the video works that are being filmed. I personally produced it, and the lack of financial means to reach the homes and areas of residence of the poor, in order to convey their suffering exactly as it is on the ground.”
