North Korea fired two ballistic missiles into the East Sea on the afternoon of the 15th.

"North Korea fired two unidentified ballistic missiles from the central inland area into the East Sea this afternoon," the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a text message sent to the reporters.

So far, the type, altitude, and flight distance of the ballistic missile have not been disclosed.

This is North Korea's fifth missile launch this year, just two days after it announced that it had successfully tested a long-range cruise missile.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said, "We are maintaining a full readiness posture while strengthening surveillance and vigilance while closely cooperating between South Korea and the United States."
