Severe thunderstorms and rainfall ranging from 80 to 100 mm of rain are expected this Tuesday in Gard and Hérault.

The two departments have been placed in orange vigilance by Météo France.

The thunderstorm activity should also subside during the afternoon.

Gard and Hérault were placed in orange vigilance for the risk of thunderstorms and flooding on Tuesday, according to Météo-France, which also provides "a significant risk of violent phenomenon".

Thunderstorms, which should start in the morning, "could be violent and not very mobile", with 80 to 100 mm of rain, "or even more, in a short time".

Risk of "significant damage"

Strong gusts of wind, hail and marked electrical activity are also expected.

Thunderstorm activity is expected to subside during the afternoon.

According to Météo-France, "these violent storms are likely to cause significant damage locally", "lives and property can be locally endangered", floods are possible.
