Two men of 25 and 35 years of age and of American nationality have been found dead floating in the waters that bathe the cliffs of the southeast of Mallorca, in an area very frequented by lovers of
'psychobloc'
, an extreme modality of free climbing that is practice
on the sea
.
Although the causes of death are still being investigated, the first investigations indicate that they would have died when a
rockslide occurred
while climbing or trying to access a place to climb.
A citizen has alerted the authorities this afternoon after finding the body of one of the young people
floating
in an enclave on the Mallorcan coast.
Specifically
between Cala Sa Nau and Cala Mitjana
, a steep coastline, with cliffs that fall directly into the sea and where some of the best-known and most picturesque sanctuaries for fans of 'psicobloc' can be found.
This sport is booming and attracts many tourists and climbing enthusiasts to the area almost all year round.
When the rescue teams went to the scene, they found a
second body
in a nearby cave, in an area known as the Cova des Cosí.
The Civil Guard has opened an investigation to clarify the details of the event and the reason why the young people fell into the water.
At the moment, the forensic investigations have not yet been completed.
Climbers known as the Pou brothers, who know the enclave, where, in fact, they have been climbing these days, have expressed their condolences on social networks, showing their "dismay" at the event.
