It started with an unpaid debt and a 28-year-old man being shot.

The shots will be the start of several serious acts of violence in the Gävle area last year.

The Court of Appeal changes the district court's judgment

The 28-year-old man was sentenced in Gävle District Court to nine years in prison for, among other things, attempted murder and aggravated weapon crime.

The Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland is now changing the district court's ruling and convicting the man of a serious unlawful threat instead of attempted murder and he will receive three years and six months in prison.

The Court of Appeal writes in the judgment that the court cannot ignore the possibility that the 28-year-old deliberately fired a shot next to and into the air and who did not risk hitting any of the plaintiffs.

He should therefore not be convicted of attempted murder or attempted aggravated assault.

Reduced penalties for criminals

Even a man in his 20s has his sentence reduced by the Court of Appeal.

He was sentenced in the district court for, among other things, a felony to two years and six months in prison.

The Court of Appeal reduces the prison sentence to one year and ten months.

A third man gets his prison sentence reduced by two months and is convicted of a felony and gets two years and two months.

The convicted men are also accused of, among other things, stamping for murder.

The trial for that charge will begin in the district court next week.
