In Region Skåne's furniture warehouse in Helsingborg's hospital, there are desk chairs, tables, armchairs, cabinets ....

The furniture that ends up here is one that has previously been used by various businesses but which for various reasons is no longer needed right there.

It can be about office furniture and furniture for waiting rooms.

Focuses on recycling

This is the result of Region Skåne's new investment in reusing furniture instead of throwing it away.

Since the start earlier this year with Helsingborg as a pilot project, almost 600 pieces of furniture have been given a new home in some other business in the region.

In cash, this corresponds to a saving of almost one million kronor, the amount needed if you instead chose to buy new furniture.

And there will probably be more money because the project will continue.

How they are to be used is currently being discussed in the region.

"Seen so much thrown away"

- I am happy and surprised that it has gone so well.

I have seen so much thrown away during my 20 years at Region Skåne, it feels good that we are jumping on the recycling bandwagon, says project manager Daniel Borg.

If someone in the healthcare sector in Skåne does not want the furniture, it can be sold to companies with which the region has an agreement - or ultimately donated to aid organizations.
