Putin "in self-isolation" after meeting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad .. Video

The Kremlin said today, Tuesday, that Russian President Vladimir Putin is in a "completely healthy condition" and has not contracted Covid-19, despite his decision to enter into self-isolation after a number of his entourage became ill.

Putin had earlier met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the Kremlin, as well as with a number of athletes.

Putin congratulated his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad on his birthday, during the latter's unannounced visit to Moscow on Tuesday.

"I am happy to welcome you again to Moscow," Putin said. "Above all, I would like to congratulate you on your birthday, which was a few days ago."

Assad thanked him for this in Russian, saying: "Spasebo."

The Russian president also spoke about the results of the presidential elections in Syria, congratulating the Syrian president on the good results, telling him: "These results confirm the confidence of the Syrians in you, and despite all the difficulties and tragedies of previous years, they are counting on you to return to normal life."

Putin noted that the consolidation of the state is hampered by the illegal presence of foreign forces in Syria, saying: "In my opinion, the main problem lies in the presence of foreign forces in certain areas of the country without a decision of the United Nations, and without your permission, which is contrary to international law. And it does not give you the opportunity to make maximum efforts to consolidate the country and move forward on the path of reconstruction at a pace that would have been achieved if the entire territory of the country was under the control of the legitimate government.”
