Nicholas turns into a hurricane and approaches Houston

The National Hurricane Center in the United States announced that Tropical Storm Nicholas has intensified in the Gulf of Mexico and has become a hurricane as it approaches the American coast, noting that the hurricane is currently heading to the city of Houston, Texas.

The center said that at three o'clock in the morning GMT, Nicholas intensified into a hurricane, accompanied by strong winds of 120 km / h, which "brings heavy rain, strong winds and storms to the central and northern coasts of Texas."


Meteorologists expected the hurricane to bring about 460 millimeters of rain to Houston.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott urged state residents to abide by local authorities' warnings and instructions.
