"Le Monde" author Philip Fritz wrote that the meeting between Merkel and Duda was planned in advance. However, after Merkel arrived in Warsaw on the 11th, she had to change her visit plan.
The official Polish reason was a schedule problem, saying that Duda was going to Katowice to participate in the event that day (so he could not meet with Merkel).
Fritz emphasized that during Merkel's "farewell trip", she was received by non-EU U.S. President Biden and Ukrainian President Zelensky, while Poland, a member of the European Union, refused to meet her.
