According to the lawyer, after the searches at Dobrokhotov's place related to the criminal libel case, the investigators seized the foreign passport from the editor-in-chief of The Insider.

“Dobrokhotov’s lawyer filed complaints against the investigator’s actions, believing that the passport had been seized illegally.

Yesterday the court dismissed the complaint.

But as we see in the photographs that Roman Aleksandrovich publishes on his social networks, he was in Ukraine, now in Estonia, "Stalina Gurevich told RT.

The lawyer believes that Dobrokhotov either crossed the border illegally, or he has a passport of another state.

“According to Russian law, a person is obliged to report the presence of a different citizenship, otherwise criminal liability may follow.

How Dobrokhotov left the territory of Russia without a passport is completely incomprehensible to me.

Here, a violation of international norms or Russian legislation is evident, ”Gurevich said.

For illegal crossing of the border of the Russian Federation, punishment is provided for up to two years in prison (Art. 322 of the Criminal Code).

For concealment of the second citizenship - a fine of 200 thousand rubles (Art. 330 of the Criminal Code).

Earlier, Gurevich appealed to law enforcement agencies with a statement that Dobrokhotov spread knowingly false information about the Dutch journalist Max van der Werff, accusing him of cooperation with foreign and Russian intelligence.

Max van der Werff is the author of a documentary film about the plane crash of the Malaysian Boeing (flight MH17) in Ukraine in 2014.
