In a new book, Ali Khalil talks about life as a gang criminal, about the violence, the culture and the people in the parallel world.
He writes that he himself shot people in the conflicts, which not infrequently made former friends turn against each other.
- There is a saying that your best friend can be your worst enemy.
It happens when money comes in between, with status and power comes jealousy.
It infects many, he says.
Ali Khalil belonged to the Gårdsten Alliance based in northern Gothenburg.
He had grown up with many of those with whom he shared his criminal life.
- We had a very good time with each other but lived a dysfunctional life.
Looking back, it was just negativity, he says.
- You do not really know who you are, you want to be something and look up to the wrong things.
