The demonstrations announced this Wednesday in Kinshasa and in several other cities by the Lamuka coalition are prohibited.

In the capital, the governor mentioned among other reasons the risk of the spread of Covid-19, but also the parliamentary re-entry which will take place this same Wednesday.

For its part, the main force of the opposition rejects its reasons and maintains its marches, in particular to demand what it calls the depoliticization of the Ceni.

Next to Lamuka, the NOGEC party, close to Joseph Kabila, also called for demonstrations for the same reasons.

For the Lamuka coalition, depoliticizing the Independent National Electoral Commission (Céni) means removing all the delegates of the political parties from the office of the electoral center and keeping only experts and members of civil society.

Martin Fayulu says he is convinced that Félix Tshisekedi organized himself to instrumentalize and control the electoral center.

Clearly, Lamuka wants the presidential ordinance that creates the Ceni

signed in July by Félix Tshisekedi to

be repealed and that all stakeholders return to the table of discussions.

Through the demonstrations scheduled for Wednesday, the Lamuka coalition also wants to recall that the elections must be organized within the constitutional deadline, that is to say in 2023, specifies Martin Fayulu.

This is also the reason why Lucha will participate in these demonstrations, says the citizens' movement.

Joseph Kabila's PPRD, which also pleads for the establishment of a consultation framework for all stakeholders in the electoral process, will not participate in the marches, but encourage the population in general and its activists in particular to take part in it.

"

We are not organizers, but we are supporting the march,

" Ferdinand Kambere, deputy permanent secretary of the PPRD, told RFI.

In the entourage of the Head of State, we denounce "

bad faith

" and "

the process of intent

" on the part of the organizers.
