- We think it is reasonable that we describe that we as a municipality expect our citizens to take part in the outcome of someone actually using our land or sea, says the municipal board chairman Åsa Wiklund Lång (S).

Decision on will orientation

There are many who want to build wind farms along the Gävle coast.

Svea Vind Offshore wants to build Utposten 2 and WPD is planning for Storgrunden, among other things.

Now, S, L, MP and C have decided on a so-called will orientation: When wind farms are built, some will also go back to those who live nearby - at least one percent of the production value of electricity sold.

"Misleading game"

But demanding money is not possible, and therefore the decision is misleading, according to parts of the opposition.

- It is part of a political game where they try to give a picture that Gävle municipality can guarantee money to the locals and we can not do that.

That is why we do not think we should make this decision.

If we get district money after an establishment, it must of course be distributed, says William Elofsson (M) municipal councilor in opposition.

- That makes this an issue for or against wind power and that we should divert the citizens. That is not true at all, says Åsa Wiklund Lång (S).
