Brazilian football legend Pelé left the intensive care unit of Sao Paulo hospital where he is recovering from the removal of a "suspicious" colon tumor, according to the latest medical bulletin published on Tuesday.
"The patient Edson Arantes do Nascimento presents a good clinical condition and left the intensive therapy unit. He will remain convalescing in a room", explained the Albert Einstein hospital, where the "King" Pelé was admitted on the 31st. August.
On Monday evening, one of his daughters, Kely Nascimento, had already indicated on Instagram that his father, aged 80, was "ready to leave intensive care and return home soon".
"He is strong and stubborn and with the support and care of the brilliant Einstein team (at the hospital) and all the love, energy and light the whole world sends, he will make it!", she added on her message, illustrated with a photo, capture of a video call, showing the triple world champion all smiles.
Pelé underwent surgery on September 4 for a "suspicious" colon tumor, discovered during routine examinations.
His health has been failing in recent years, with several hospitalizations.
The last dates back to April 2019, in Paris, due to a severe urinary tract infection, after a meeting with French striker Kylian Mbappé.
Back in Brazil, he had a kidney stone removed.
The only footballer in history to have won the World Cup three times (1958, 1962, 1970), Pelé scored 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches.
