Employers in Russia must provide employees with three days off with pay after each stage of COVID-19 vaccination.

The corresponding initiative was made at the Institute for Social Research and Development of Civil Initiatives (ISIRGI), RIA Novosti reports.

“In connection with the mass vaccination against coronavirus infection, which is currently ongoing in Russia, I ask you to consider the possibility of introducing an obligation for employers to provide all vaccinated workers with three compulsory paid days off,” the document says.

The authors of the initiative draw attention to the fact that many employers do not want to provide paid time off to employees who want to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

As a result, "a huge layer of the working-age population remains unprotected from coronavirus infection due to the inability to vaccinate and fear of a strong immune response of the body."

“Without a doubt, the legislatively enshrined additional days off after vaccination could significantly increase the number of vaccinated, which in turn will contribute to an increase in herd immunity,” the ISIRGI stressed.

The corresponding appeal is addressed to the head of the Ministry of Labor Anton Kotyakov, Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin and Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.

Recall that in July, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed to work out ways to achieve immunity at a level of at least 80%.

As Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova pointed out, the problem should be solved by November 1, 2021.

According to the latest data from the headquarters to prevent the importation and spread of coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation, 46.5 million Russians received the first component of the COVID-19 vaccines in the country, and 39.8 million people have already completed the vaccination process.

As Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko noted on September 11, vaccines are available in all regions of the Russian Federation, the supply of drugs is carried out without interruption.

The head of the Ministry of Health also called on the expert community to recommend citizens to participate in the vaccination campaign.

In Russia, five vaccines against coronavirus infection are currently approved for use: "Sputnik V" and "Sputnik Light" Center.

Gamalei, "EpiVacCorona" and "EpiVacCorona-N" are developed by the Novosibirsk center "Vector" and "KoviVak" at the Chumakov Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
