People's Strength Rep. Yoon Hee-sook's resignation from the National Assembly will be submitted to the National Assembly plenary session today (13th) at 2 pm.

National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seok made this decision after consulting with negotiating groups of the ruling and opposition parties.

However, the resignation agenda of former Democratic Party Chairman Lee Nak-yeon, who recently announced his resignation as a member of the National Assembly, will not be brought up on the same day.

According to the National Assembly Act, the agenda for resignation of a member of the National Assembly during the session is handled by an anonymous vote at the plenary session (resolved only when a majority of the total attendance is required).

Since the Democratic Party of Korea has a majority of 171 seats, it is up to the Democratic Party to vote.

Earlier, Rep. Yoon announced his resignation and issued a letter of resignation when the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's investigation into the real estate of a member of the National Assembly raised suspicions about his parents' real estate.

The People's Power has requested that Rep. Yoon's will be respected and a proposal for resignation be brought to the plenary session.

The Democratic Party, on the other hand, criticized Rep. Yoon as a "resignation show" and "victim cosplay" and was passive in handling the resignation agenda, but it is known that they decided to leave it up to each member's judgment.

At a briefing at the highest level, senior spokesman Koh Yong-jin said, "The resignation of Rep. Yoon Hee-sook is not something our party should be involved in." .

As the Democratic Party announced its free voting policy, there is an analysis that the resignation of Rep. Yoon is highly likely to be dealt with.

If the resignation bill is passed, the number of People's Power seats will be reduced from 104 to 103.

The most recent case in which the resignation bill was passed at the plenary session was in October 2018.

At that time, the resignation proposal submitted by Rep. Oh Se-jeong of the Bareunmirae Party to run for president of Seoul National University was processed.
