The U.S. Department of Defense criticized North Korea's test-fire of a new long-range cruise missile as "a threat to neighboring countries and the international community."

In a statement, the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command said in a statement that "North Korea's missile test-and-launch activity demonstrates North Korea's continued focus on strengthening its military program and poses a threat to neighboring countries and the international community."

Earlier, North Korea's Korean Central News Agency announced that "the National Defense Academy successfully conducted a test-fire of a new long-range cruise missile that was newly developed yesterday and yesterday."

The South Korean and US governments are closely analyzing the cruise missiles launched by North Korea.
