It is important to know where to look to succeed in finding some edible mushrooms.

Thomas Strid has his tricks for finding the most common edible mushrooms:

Karl Johan mushroom

Karljohansvamp is often found in spruce environments, but it is also found in oak groves and the like.

When looking for karljohan, it is important to keep track of the weather - among other things, it must have rained, but the best places can change from year to year.

Karljohan is aging very fast.

Once a mushroom has come up, it is important to pick it up within a few days, so do not wait too long if you have a good Karl-johan place.

Chanterelle

Although the chanterelle is very easy to recognize, not everyone knows that there are two common varieties: the slightly paler variety that is often found in oak hills and the more yellow variety that is found in everything from spruce forests to pine rocks.

- But different years have very different conditions.

In some years when it has rained a lot, there is usually a lot of pine slabs.

While drier years, it is usually the spruce forest that counts.

Funnel chanterelle

Funnel chanterelles like to grow in bog edges and on the outskirts of moist forest.

But sometimes even in north-facing slopes.

It is also a fungus that comes quite late in the season, often in October and November.

- The great thing about funnel chanterelles is that once you have learned to find it, you can pick extremely large quantities
