Zhao Lijian pointed out that the Taiwan issue is the most important and sensitive core issue in Sino-US relations, and the one-China principle is the political foundation of Sino-US relations.

The US clearly promised in the "Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and the United States" that the American people will maintain cultural, commercial and other unofficial relations with the people of Taiwan.

On September 10, during the first call between China and the US, President Biden stated that the US has never intended to change the one-China policy.

The Chinese side has lodged solemn representations with the US on the relevant trends reported by the aforementioned media.

Zhao Lijian emphasized that the United States should abide by the one-China principle and the provisions of the three Sino-US Joint Communiqués, implement relevant US commitments with concrete actions, stop any form of official exchanges between the United States and Taiwan and enhance substantive relations, including not changing the name of the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in the United States. The "Taiwan Representative Office" stopped sending false signals to the "Taiwan Independence" separatist forces.

The United States should handle Taiwan-related issues carefully so as not to seriously damage Sino-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
