North Korean media reported a while ago that North Korea test-fired a new long-range cruise missile over the weekend. They said that the range is 1,500 km, and this is enough to cover all of South Korea.

North Korea has announced that it has conducted a test-fire of a new long-range cruise missile.

The Rodong Sinmun reported that the North Korean Defense Academy successfully conducted a test-fire of a new long-range cruise missile that was newly developed on the 11th and yesterday.

The new long-range cruise missile hit a 1,500 km target along a flight trajectory set in North Korea, the Rodong Sinmun reported.

North Korea also said that the missile flew for 7,580 seconds, about 2 hours and 6 minutes.

If a North Korean cruise missile flew 1,500 km, it could hit all targets in South Korea if it was launched targeting South Korea.

North Korea said that the test launch was observed by Park Jeong-chun, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee, and Kim Jong-sik and Jeon Il-ho, deputy heads of the Party Central Committee.

North Korea said that the test has strategic significance in that it possesses another effective deterrent that strongly suppresses the anti-North Korean military activities of hostile forces.

North Korea explained that the long-range cruise missile development project has been carried out for the past two years, and detailed partial tests, dozens of engine tests, and guidance tests have been carried out during that time.
