A nice figure for green people.

The bar of 100,000 voters registered to participate in the primary of environmentalists was crossed, almost three times more than their previous record, announced Sunday the national secretary of EELV Julien Bayou.

While voters have until midnight Sunday evening to register (on the lesecologistes.fr site) for the primary, the 100,000 participants mark was reached around 6:00 p.m.

The first round of the primary will take place from September 16 to 19.

The primary must decide between five candidates: the MEP Yannick Jadot, the mayor of Grenoble Eric Piolle, the former vice-president of the Hauts-de-France region Sandrine Rousseau, the deputy Delphine Batho and the entrepreneur Jean-Marc Governatori.

The record for participation in a primary of the Greens was that of the primary of 2012, which had separated Nicolas Hulot and Eva Joly and had gathered 32,000 people.

Eva Joly had won.
