An Israeli army spokesman said that Iron Dome intercepted this evening, Sunday, a new rocket fired from the Gaza Strip.

The spokesman added that for the third consecutive day, rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip.

Al-Jazeera correspondent said that he heard an explosion after activating the Iron Dome in the Gaza border towns.

He added that sirens had sounded in the city of Sderot and towns in the Gaza envelope.

Videos published by Israeli journalists showed the moment a rocket was launched from the Gaza Strip towards Israeli settlements.

Al-Jazeera correspondent Elias Karam said that the launch of the new missile came hours after the IDF Chief of Staff, Aviv Kohavi, threatened that the residents of Gaza would pay the price in the event of any escalation from the Palestinian side, and that Hamas would be responsible.

Exporting the crises of Israel

Commenting on previous Israeli raids, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said that the Israeli escalation on the Gaza Strip is a form of continuous aggression against the Palestinian people, and an attempt to export the Israeli government's crises, especially after the escape of the six prisoners from Gilboa prison.

Barhoum stressed - in a press statement - that the aggression on Gaza will not succeed in breaking the will of the Palestinian people, despite all the security and life circumstances and complications.

He stressed that the Palestinian resistance will continue to run the field within a permanent state of engagement with the occupation, as he put it.
