60 years ago, the artist Inger Hodgson moved to the USA, but every summer she came home to Sweden and Höganäs.

Except last summer.

The pandemic locked her in but she painted portraits like never before.

The pictures are now on display at Höganäs Museum.

- During the shutdown, it started with getting up in the morning and watching TV and following what was happening in Washington and then I started painting the faces I saw on the news, says Inger Hodgson.

Tegnell depicted

During the pandemic, Ruth Bader Ginsberg died and Inger made a portrait of her.

George Floyd was killed and Barack Obama became involved.

Then it became a portrait of the former president.

Anders Tegnell ended up on American news so his portrait is now also hung at Höganäs museum.

- As a portrait artist, you paint according to a living model and you do not tell if you use photography and you are a little ashamed.

But in this case, I had no choice and it felt incredibly liberating, says Inger Hodgson.

The exhibition runs at Höganäs Museum until 31 October.
