September 12, 2021 Almost four million students go back to class.

In fact, on 13 September 3,865,365 pupils from the Abruzzo, Basilicata, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Lombardy, Piedmont, Umbria and Veneto regions return to school, as well as those from the Aosta Valley and the Province of Trento.

There are 7 million 400 thousand in all female students and students who will sit in the desks of state schools this year throughout Italy.

Of these, 277 thousand are pupils with disabilities, while there are 368 thousand classes for the school year 2021/2022.

These are the main data on the start of the new school year made available by the Ministry.

Specifically, this year there are 846,000 pupils in state kindergarten, 2,313,000 in primary school, 1,584,000 in lower secondary school and 2,661,000 in lower secondary school. 51% of female students and secondary school students will attend a high school, 31.7% a technical institute and 17.3% a professional institute.

Lessons have already resumed on 6 September for the students of the Province of Bolzano, while they will begin on 14 September for 192 thousand pupils in Sardinia, on 15 September for 1,706,814 children and teenagers from the Campania, Liguria, Marche, Molise and Tuscany regions, September 16 for 829 thousand students from Friuli Venezia Giulia and Sicily. The last to return to class will be the 813 thousand pupils of the Calabria and Puglia Regions, on 20 September. As regards the school staff, according to the data updated to date, 59,425 teachers are hired with permanent contracts (of which 12,840 positions conferred on the basis of the procedures of the support decree bis). 10,729 ATAs are also hired. There are also 87,209 additional posts in derogation already assigned on the support.

In Milan staggered timetable and public transport enhancement

With the start of the new school year, starting tomorrow, Monday 13 September, the indications of the 'Milan Pact for the school' become operational, which proposes to reorganize the movements in the morning time slot 7 -10 to ensure the safe restart of school activities and more, taking into account the 80% local public transport capacity limit. As regards the scheduling of lessons for secondary schools, 70% of students will enter the classroom by 8 am, the remaining 30% after 9.30 am.

For vocational training centers, lessons will begin for the entire school population by 8.00 am, with attention on the part of individual institutions to take the necessary measures to avoid crowds. Universities are invited to organize face-to-face lessons starting at 10am.

Students return to class with old and new rules, starting with the Green pass which will be compulsory for teachers, school staff and parents to enter the institutes. students. Here is an outline of the main measures:

Grenn pass

 - It is mandatory for every adult who enters the school, from the staff to the parents and relatives of the students.

Masks

- Should be worn, possibly surgical, over 6 years of age.

Classes and desks

- Where possible the spacing of one meter between the desks must be maintained but last year's obligation on this front has fallen and for this reason the students who attended last year will be able to return to class full-time, alternating with the other companions. Masks mandatory when it is not possible to maintain the distance of one meter.

Hygiene

- The rule remains to wash or sanitize hands often and ventilate school environments: the classrooms will keep the windows open.

Trips

- Extra-curricular activities are allowed in the white zone, while the same must be limited in the yellow, orange or red regions.

Salivary test

- Monitoring begins for primary and lower secondary schools, in order to monitor, through a "network of sentinel schools", the spread of the virus in schools, even in asymptomatic subjects. The plan provides for salivary molecular tests conducted, on a voluntary basis, on pupils aged 6-14 in primary and lower secondary schools in Italy. The "sentinel schools" will be indicated by the regional health authorities in collaboration with the school offices. The campaign will involve at least 55,000 pupils every 15 days and will be supported by the Commissioner Structure in its implementation.

Tomorrow students in mobilization: "We want the future"

Tomorrow will be the first day for high schools in most regions of Italy. In front of the Ministry of Education and more than fifty schools throughout the country and in major cities, including Rome, Palermo, Florence, Genoa, Bari, Padua and many others, students belonging to the Network of middle students will mobilize "to denounce - they explain - the lack of certainty on returning to school, the lack of involvement in the decisions taken and the inexistence of any investment plan for the future of the new generations, starting with the PNRR ". Appointment at the Ministry at 10.00.

The return to school, for the second consecutive year, the students say, "seems to be a succession of slogans rather than ad hoc measures to guarantee the right to study for all. After two years of absence from school, we are happy that the Ministry is committed for the return in presence, but it is not enough to declare it. Too little has been done: on vaccinations not all the Regions have activated preferential channels for 12-18 years, on the spaces little has changed and there is too much confusion on the measures for security inside the classroom Likewise, there is no government reasoning about the future of the new generations: the PNRR was written without listening to young people and we are afraid of the ways in which this money will be used.

There are no answers from the government on the environmental crisis, there is no more time. We are a generation cornered, a generation that has counted zero in the last year and a half by political will. We want to have our say and we want to build schools and a society tailored to us. We want there to be zero compromises on the future. It's time to start from scratch ".

Pacifico:" Anief strike tomorrow "

"We fully realize that, after a year and a half of lessons marred by Covid and a lot of distance learning, we are creating discomfort for students and families, but at the same time we believe it is necessary to send a strong signal to those who govern the school. this, we invite the staff to abstain from work because it was decided to return to the classrooms without safety conditions ". This was declared by Marcello Pacifico, president of the Anief union.

"The new protocol, which was proposed to us, we did not sign for this very reason - he adds - we had to return spaced out, with a maximum of 15 students per class, more classrooms, teachers, Ata, going to restore human resources and plexuses canceled with the spending review maneuvers in recent years. In addition to the lack of action in recent weeks, the absurd decision to impose the Green Pass to access the training places has been added ".

"For this reason, Anief has given the possibility to join the appeal against the obligation of the Green Pass imposed on school staff, also providing for a new appeal addressed only to university staff - continues Pacifico - The absurdity is that the obligation, with so much of unacceptable penalties for staff who do not comply, was also extended to the parents of pupils who could go to school for less than the 15 minutes indicated by virologists as the minimum time threshold for the transmission of the virus. The same possibility of using salivary swabs , after the pressure of the Anief, will bring to the maximum monitoring on a sample basis. And what about free tampons only for fragile workers? Finally, why not hire temporary workers who have worked 24-36 months,as an EU resolution of 2018 and the ruling of the European Court of Justice that Anief obtained with a collective complaint in 2020, on the abuse of fixed-term contracts say? ".
