Darren Martin, 59, couldn't believe his eyes when he encountered a giant sea creature, the world's largest jellyfish that has the ability to collectively sting 150 people.

Pictures showed the shocking moment in which diver Darren Martin met in English waters, face to face with the world's largest jellyfish, when he was diving in the North Sea in Brown Bay.

"It caught my attention because I'm always looking for different things to photograph while I'm underwater," Darren said.

"I've never been worried about being stung because it looks like a nettle sting," Darren Martin, an experienced diver, told The Daily Star that sometimes you can have an allergic reaction and the stinging pain can last a day or two.

It is believed that the jellyfish of this species called "the lion" is the largest species in the entire world, and the length of the largest extends a longer distance than the blue whale.

The US state of New Hampshire made headlines in 2010 when a lion jellyfish was blamed when about 150 people fell victim to a mass sting.

A study by the University of Gothenburg in Sweden looked at a bad jellyfish sting and described pain that can last for hours or days.

The sting is not fatal, but one can lead to nausea, sweating, muscle cramps, and impaired consciousness, and for most people the pain is mild.
