In the standoff between Apple and Epic Games, which started last year, followed by an open trial last May, California justice ruled in favor of the video game publisher Fortnite on Friday, September 10, but it has cleared Apple of monopoly charges.

The judicial soap opera may not have come to an end: despite its "

victory

", Epic Games wants to appeal the decision.

The publisher of the video game Fortnite therefore remains determined to force the tech giant to facilitate competition on its App Store application store, which brings in more than $ 500 billion per year.

against Apple: "It's mostly a question of big money"

Apple claims to receive only a small share of this colossal sum, while this company takes a commission of 30% on transactions via the applications of the App Store.

Some developers get a reduced rate of 15%, especially those with annual revenues of less than $ 1 million.

But other companies, like Spotify and Netflix, do not offer the option to subscribe to their services from the App Store and thus avoid the commission.

Apple has therefore been cleared of monopoly charges, with an injunction to the iPhone manufacturer to no longer prevent publishers from communicating directly with their customers.

But Epic Games intends to appeal, because according to the publisher of Fortnite, Apple will be able to continue to impose its payment system for purchases made directly in its application.
