Thousands of citizens demonstrated on Saturday in Bosnia-Hercegovina's capital Sarajevo because of unsolved violent crimes against young people.

They demanded "Justice for Dženan and David", reported the news portal klix.ba.

The cases of Dženan Memić from Sarajevo and David Dragičević from Banja Luka represent the most prominent alleged murders that, according to relatives, have not been investigated due to corruption of the authorities or have even been committed by the police themselves.

Memić, then 21 years old, was killed in Sarajevo in 2016 under circumstances that have not yet been clarified.

Only this year did the authorities arrest suspected perpetrators.

Before that, his violent death should be concealed as a traffic accident with the help of corrupt police officers.

According to relatives, Dragičević, who was also 21 years old when he died, died in police custody in 2018 after his arrest.

His body was later found in a river bed.

In the Dragičević case, police and prosecutors blocked substantial investigations in Banja Luka, the capital of the Serbian part of Bosnia.

Only a few months ago, the central public prosecutor in Sarajevo took the case.

Numerous people from Banja Luka also took part in the demonstration in the Bosnian capital on Saturday. In the past, the Bosnian Serb police had repeatedly violently suppressed protests against David Dragičević. In the local elections almost a year ago, an activist from the Justice for David movement, Draško Stanivuković, was surprisingly elected mayor of Banja Luka. Since then, there has been a memorial to Dragičević in the center of the city.
