Accused of four rapes and a sexual assault, the player's trial will begin on January 24, 2022. It should last from two to three weeks, said judge Steven Everett.

Benjamin Mendy has been in pre-trial detention at Altcourse prison, north of Liverpool since August 26, after breaking the rules of his judicial review.

The facts allegedly took place at the champion's home between October 2020 and last month.

One of the three alleged victims is seventeen years old.

During the hearing, the player, beige sweater and tracksuit on his back, appeared alongside Louis Saha Mattuie, also accused of four rapes.

The link between the two cases, however, was not communicated by the British justice.

A second hearing will be held on November 15.

The time for the footballer to prepare his defense and to indicate whether he pleads guilty or not.
