According to Russian diplomats, unknown persons tore down and stole the plaque with the inscription.
The embassy regards the incident as "a shameful act of outrage against the memory of those who fought and gave their lives for the deliverance of Latvia from the brown plague."
Earlier, Russia condemned the desecration of World War II memorials in Moldova.
