Last summer, Halland was shaken by most of the fires.

The police were soon able to arrest two people, a man and a woman who were suspected of several fire-related crimes.

In June 2021, the man and woman at Varberg District Court were sentenced for, among other things, attempted murder, aggravated arson and aggravated vandalism to imprisonment for 12 years each.

The Court of Appeal changes the district court's judgment

The verdict was appealed to the Court of Appeal, which is now changing the district court's decision.

The woman is acquitted of charges of aggravated arson and attempted murder on two occasions and is instead sentenced to 8 years in prison.

The man was not as successful in the Court of Appeal hearings.

He is now convicted of two more charges: Attempted arson and aggravated arson.

The penalty for him will instead be 18 years in prison.
