Swedish authorities ban "Vladimir Putin" without disclosing the reason

A Swedish couple wanted to name their child after Russian President Putin.

Swedish tax authorities have banned a Swedish couple from naming their child Vladimir Putin.

The couple submitted a request to name their child after Russian President Putin, to the tax authorities in accordance with the regulations in force in Sweden when naming children.

Names can be banned by these authorities if they appear offensive or could cause inconvenience and harm to the bearer.

But the authorities did not disclose the reason why they refused to give the name of the Russian president to this child.

These parents, who are from Laholm in southern Sweden, were forced to return to the list of names presented to choose a name for the child other than the one chosen by the parents, according to the local media.

The tax authorities had previously rejected several names, such as Ford, Michael Jackson, Token and Q.

In 2007, a married couple obtained a court ruling enabling them to name their daughter Metallica after the tax authority refused to give the daughter that name.

Two other parents managed to name their son Google without entering into any lawsuits.

In 2019, the most popular name given to male children in Sweden was Lukas, followed by Liam, and then William.

As for the girls, the most famous name given to them was Alice, then Olivia, followed by Astrid.
